Cementing Plug
A cementing plug is crucial in maintaining the quality of the cementing process by creating a barrier between the cement slurry and the surrounding mud. Two types of cementing plugs exist: conventional plugs, consisting of a top and bottom plug, and specialized plugs. Specialized plugs are utilized for specific tasks, such as two-stage cementing (employing a top, middle, or bottom plug), drilling liner cementing (requiring a drill pipe or hollow plug), and composite casing (which necessitates a composite plug).
